BULLSEYE PISTOL MATCH
Welcome shooters of Turkey Hill a new match is coming your way. This is a bullseye pistol match officially called NRA Conventional Pistol and we plan to shoot this on the 2nd Saturday of every month at the handgun range.
NRA
Conventional Pistol is the match that is shot at regional, state, and
the national championships for the NRA. Bullseye pistol, its more
popular name, is traditionally a three gun match and is fired with a
.22lr rimfire, a centerfire cartridge .32cal or larger, and a .45. In
the match there are 270 record shots fired for a possible score of
2700-270X. Each of the 3 guns shoots a total of 90 record shots. These
90 shots are broken down into sub matches of 3 stages with 30 record
shots each. Here is how it looks:
Slow Fire
Fire 10 shots in 10 minutes at 50 yards, score and repair target, 3 times.
Timed Fire
Fire 5 shots in 20 seconds at 25 yards twice, score and repair target, 3 times.
Rapid Fire
Fire 5 shots in 10 seconds at 25 yards twice, score and repair target, 3 times.
Precision
is the name of the game, and the most daunting part is that every shot
is taken standing with one hand. So the basics of shooting, sight
alignment and trigger control, really come in to play. To make this a
little easier on new shooters you will be allowed to shoot this match
with two hands for the first few matches. Coaching can also be made available. We will only be shooting the .22lr stage of the match. That’s 90 scored shots out of your .22 pistol for
the match total, but bring a few extra rounds. Red
dot sights and scopes are allowed but lasers are not. (NRA rules not mine.) Bring a spotting scope or a good set of binoculars to see your shots at 50 yards.
So come out on the 2nd Saturday, October 10th
and shoot Turkey Hill’s first bullseye pistol match. This match is for
members only and the entry fee is $5.00. Registration is at 8:30am.
We will begin shooting at 9:00am, sharp.
